What to do if Posts are Missing from the Import

First, if this is your initial import, don't fear! BlogFeeder imports 5 posts to begin with so you can check the import and ensure that everything was successful and is displayed as desired. The rest of the import should queue up in about an hour. If it takes longer than this (usually due to a high number of posts), please  get in touch and we'd be happy to assist!

All Posts Missing

If all posts are missing, and you're using a Facebook feed, please ensure that you don't have geo-tag restrictions enabled on your feed page. You can edit these settings from your facebook.com account.

Some Posts Missing

Certain blogging platforms limit the number of posts they include in RSS feeds. This means BlogFeeder can only import up to the limit set by the blogging platform and no more. BlogFeeder does try to page through all posts for WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, and Tumblr blogs, so these should not present an issue. However, BlogFeeder may not be able to import all posts from other sources due to technical limitations from the feeds provided by those sources.

We are aware that this is an issue with Shopify blog imports, as we cannot page through old blog posts to get them all. You may also see this with Pinterest and other platforms. We do stay up-to-date on changes to blogging platforms, so if they add the ability to import old posts, we will add this ability to BlogFeeder as soon as possible.

If you have previously used BlogFeeder and it did not import all posts from WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger, or Squarespace, you can delete the feed and the relevant blog, then try to reimport the feed

You may also need to follow the instructions below. If you're using Feedburner,  check this document out for help instead.

You can change this limit for the following platforms with these instructions:

WordPress

  1. Unlink the existing WordPress blog within BlogFeeder
  2. Delete any posts that were imported into your Shopify blog
  3. Update your RSS settings - go to "Settings > Reading" and change Syndication feeds show the most recent to allow all of your posts in your feed (BlogFeeder needs access to all posts to import them). At the same time, you may want to ensure that you allow the full text in your RSS feed:

  4. Set up your blog again within BlogFeeder once you've saved these new settings.

Other Platforms

  1. Unlink the existing blog within BlogFeeder
  2. Delete any posts that were imported into your Shopify blog
  3. Update your blogging platform settings to ensure that you allow the full text for all posts
  4. Setup a new blog within BlogFeeder, and re-add this feed

If you have questions about this process, or issues setting up BlogFeeder, please submit a support request and we'll be happy to help!
